EARTH SCIENCE

The state-of-the-art Blake Planetarium is the only 4K full-dome planetarium south of Boston. Students are taken on fantastic voyages through the planetarium’s high-resolution video playback, real-time multimedia, multi-channel surround sound and classic astronomy tools. The planetarium can seat 72 people. School program topics include gravity, seasons, the Big Bang and Kepler’s Laws, among others.

MARINE BIOLOGY

Knowledgeable naturalists guide whale-watch cruises with Captain John Boats.The four-hour, educational experiencegives students an up-close view of rare mammals. Tours depart from Town Wharf and journey to Cape Cod Bay and Stellwagen Bank, a marine sanctuary and one of the primary feeding grounds for humpback whales, finback whales, pilot whales, minke whales and endangered right whales.

NATURAL SCIENCE

Students explore the natural and cultural environments of the South Shore at South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell, located about 30 minutes from Plymouth. The center is set on 30 acres and is surrounded by 200 acres of town conservation/recreation land consisting of meadows, woodland and a pond. Education programs offer indoor and outdoor learning activities for students. Nature programs are held year-round; themes include Birds of Prey, Native American Artifacts & Lore, Maple Sugaring, Pond Life and Backyard Botanist.
